WEST PARIS – Residents will have the opportunity to greet new Town Manager Donald Woodbury at the annual meeting Saturday, March 6.
Woodbury was born and raised in the Lewiston-Auburn area and attended Edward Little High School of Auburn. Following graduation from Edward Little he spent time in the U.S. Army and then received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration.
After completing his post-graduate work he went on to serve in many areas of public service including health care, hospital administration, finance, government contracting and private sector counseling.
In the early 1980s he was named director of hospital reimbursement for the Georgia Department of Medical Assistance. In that position he and his staff were responsible for determining Medicaid payment rates for more than 100 hospitals throughout the state of Georgia. Also, as a member of the Governor’s Task Force, he helped develop a new rate setting process, which is still used by the Georgia Department of Medical Services today. He served as director of the State Health Benefit Plan insuring more than 200,000 state and local employees and retirees.
In 1992 Woodbury went to work for Lockheed Martin Corp. in the Department of Employee Benefits. There he was responsible for health, welfare, retirement and 401(k) plans for more than 100,000 employees. He also managed the Employee Assistance Program and other personnel benefit areas.
Woodbury will be moving back to Maine before the March 6 town meeting and will reside in Minot with his wife, Carol, and his mother, Dorothy.
