1950 – 2004
LEWISTON – Denis G. Lafontaine, 54, of 145 Summer St., died peacefully Monday, Feb. 23, at his home.
He was born in Lewiston, Jan. 10, 1950, the son of Bertrand and Carmen Chenard Lafontaine. He was educated in Lewiston schools, graduating from Lewiston High School in 1969. He was married Oct. 20, 1973, to Linda M. Pelletier and was employed as a long haul truck driver for Ed Thayer, Inc.
He was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish and enjoyed spending time with his three grandchildren, bowling and restoring his ’69 Chevelle. He bowled for many years at Holiday Lanes and was a member of the Guys and Dolls League, Maine Men’s Bowling Hall of Fame, was assistant secretary of Men’s Bowling Association and worked with youth bowling leagues, Y.A.B.A.
He is survived by his wife of Lewiston; two sons, Shane and wife Sherri of Biddeford and Keith and wife Melyssa, USAF in England; three grandchildren, Shane Jr., Mikaela and Cameron; a sister, Pauline Valliere and husband Robert P. of Lewiston; three brothers, Normand B. and wife Anne, Lucien E. and fiancee, Dianna Donahue all of Lewiston and Lionel P. and wife Nancy of Saco.
He was predeceased by his parents; and in-laws, Lawrence and Hilda Pelletier.
