NORWAY – Marjorie Medd of Norway has announced her candidacy for the Democratic nomination in Maine Senate District 13.

The district includes Norway, Oxford, Paris, Otisfield, Harrison, Fryeburg, Denmark, Hiram, Porter, Brownfield, Baldwin, Bridgton, Sebago and Naples.

“I believe our region needs a senator who will vigorously pursue a better business climate to retain and create jobs, a world-class education system, a fairer tax structure and increased access to health insurance. I have spent more than 25 years working on these issues and look forward to continuing that work in the Senate,” Medd said.

The chairman of the Growth Council of Oxford Hills and former chairman of the state and SAD 17 boards of education, Medd has pledged to bring her hard work and dedication to the State House.

A longtime Oxford Hills resident, Medd has held leadership positions in numerous local, state and national organizations, including Enterprise Maine, Jobs for Maine’s Graduates, Maine Coalition for Excellence in Education, the Maine Children’s Alliance and the Regional Educational Laboratory at Brown University.

Medd holds degrees from Tufts University and Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. She and her husband, Dr. William Medd, have three adult children and three grandchildren.
