PORTLAND – Barry R. Jordan has been promoted to an assistant vice president in the Mortgage Department at Banknorth Group Inc. A senior mortgage loan officer, he will continue to provide residential mortgages throughout western Maine.

Jordan joined Banknorth in 1994 and has nine years in banking. He previously served as a loan officer and a senior loan officer.

The Sebago resident is a longtime umpire and serves as the state commissioner for Babe Ruth Baseball/Cal Ripken Division. He has been chosen to umpire four different World Series for Babe Ruth Baseball. Jordan also is a former fire chief and rescue chief for Sebago.

He is a 1973 graduate of Lake Region High School in Naples.

Neokraft honored in sign contest

LEWISTON – Neokraft Signs of Lewiston was awarded honorable mention in two categories in the 2004 Signs of the Times/International Sign Association sign contest.

The judges recognized Neokraft for: “Portland Public Market” in the Commercial Sign Systems category and “Maine Medical Center” in the Electric Monument Signs category. Both projects are in Portland.

Neokraft Signs, founded in 1947, is a manufacturer of custom signs for the commercial and architectural markets throughout New England and New York state. The principals in the company are Peter Murphy, president; Paul Lessard, vice president; and Phil Bolduc, vice president.

The winners will be recognized at the International Sign Association Expo, April 15-17 in Orlando, Fla. Results of the contest and photographs of the winning entries will be published in the April issue of Signs of the Times magazine.
