LEWISTON – Rachel B. Amnott, 77, died Tuesday, Feb. 25, at Marshwood Nursing Home, with her family by her side, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Lewiston, May 6, 1926, the daughter of Charles and Rose (Lapierre) Bellegarde, she was educated in Lewiston schools and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1943. She then attended Bliss College.
She worked as a bookkeeper for her husband at Amnott & Son Oil and also at Bellegarde Custom Kitchens, BCD Distributors and Clark’s Pharmacy.
On Oct. 16, 1948, she married Victor Amnott, who passed away on Jan. 21, 1968.
Survivors include her three children, Paul and his wife, Connie of Auburn, Suzanne Patry and her husband, Jules of Lewiston and Donald and his wife, Susan of Southington, Conn.; five grandchildren, Scott Amnott of Buffalo, N.Y., Marc Amnott of Hamden, Conn., David Patry of Lewiston and Christopher and Katherine Amnott of Southington, Conn.; one brother, Charles Bellegarde Jr. of the Villages, Fla.; and three sisters, Monique Patenaude of Augusta, Julie Stokes of Scarborough and Claire Callahan of Venice, Fla.
