1929 – 2004
CAPE CORAL, Fla. – Richard Carroll Prince, 74, of Cape Coral, Fla., formerly of Torrington, Conn., passed away Monday, Feb. 23, after a short but valiant battle with cancer. He and his wife, Sue moved from Torrington to Cape Coral in January of 2003.
He was born April 9, 1929, in Auburn, to Delmar E. and Alice (Hobart) Prince. He graduated from Edward Little High School in 1948, and enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served for four years, until his honorable discharge in 1953.
He worked at Kaman Aerospace in Bloomfield, Conn., as an electrical technician, wiring helicopters until his retirement in 1991. He also worked several years for the Torrington Co.
His favorite hobbies were woodworking, fishing and spending time with his wife and family.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Sue (Deming) Prince of Cape Coral; three daughters, Pamela L. Petrovits and Valorie L. Reder, both of Torrington, Conn., and Holly P. Krouse of Barkhamsted, Conn.; two sons, Gregory M. Prince and Richard J. Prince, both of Torrington, Conn.; nine grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; a brother, Donald Hobart of Houston, Texas; and a sister, Florence St. Louis of Poland.
