AUGUSTA (AP) – Authorities on Saturday were investigating two fatal snowmobile crashes.

A Friday afternoon collision between two sleds off Route 113 in Fryeburg claimed the life of 28-year-old Michael Corbeil of Buxton.

The crash also left 22-year-old Mark Merrill of Brownfield critically injured, according to Maine Warden Service spokesman Mark Latti.

Authorities said the collision occurred at a curve on a trail.

Killed in a pre-dawn crash in Readfield off Route 41 on Saturday was 19-year-old Luke Hopkins of Manchester, Latti said.

State police joined the warden service investigation.
