We feel all people, gay or otherwise, have the right to partake in marriage as a commitment to their life with another person. There should not be a different rule for people who are gay if they choose to commit to another person. This is not a constitutional issue, but a personal issue. It is time to separate church and state.
We have been married 52 years this year. Our son and his male companion have been in a monogamous relationship for the past 25 years and in a civil union (in Vermont, of course) for the past three years. How has our son’s relationship affected our marriage or any other marriage?
I fail to see the point of President Bush and his supporters of this issue, other than a mean outlook on life on their part.
We support gay rights and all civil rights.
