GRAY – A camp road maintenance training workshop will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at Stimson Hall, Route 26.

The gravel road maintenance workshop will demonstrate how to use a FrontRunner to improve the shape and condition of a gravel road.

It will provide hands-on training in erosion and sediment control measures. Participants will learn about basic road building and maintenance techniques, and be introduced to a “do-it-yourself” road maintenance tool called the FrontRunner.

The FrontRunner grader/rake is an attachment that fits onto the front of three-quarter ton or larger pickup trucks utilizing a snowplow mount. It is used for road grading, maintenance, site cleanup, landscaping, finish grading and snow removal on soft roads.

The workshop will begin with a classroom session followed by a demonstration session on Birchwood Road. Participants will be given the opportunity to use the FrontRunner to help improve the condition of the road. Participants will be encouraged to make use of the FrontRunner, available on loan from the Cumberland County Soil and Water Conservation District.

Registration is $5, made payable to conservation district. For more information or registration materials, contact Mary Gilbertson at Cumberland County Soil and Water Conservation District at 207-856-2777 or [email protected].
