RUMFORD – The SAD 43 board will complete its initial review of the 2004-05 budget presentations and hear an update on the programs of a health education grant when it meets on Tuesday.

The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in the library of Mountain Valley High School.

Superintendent Jim Hodgkin said proposed budgets will be presented for curriculum, instruction and assessment, the central office, technology, buildings, grounds and transportation, and nurses’ budgets and certification.

He said special board workshops to put together the proposed 2004-05 budget will be set for 6:30 p.m. March 22 and March 29 at the high school. Hodgkin said he has also offered to meet with the boards of selectmen of the district’s four member towns to discuss the development of the district budget.

The referendum vote will be held on June 8 on the budget. A districtwide vote will be held about a week prior to the referendum.

Residents approved a $13.69 million operating budget last year.

Kathy Sutton, coordinator of the district’s five-year Comprehensive School Health Education Grant, will update the board on the various programs ongoing in the schools. These include programs for wellness, tobacco-use prevention and suicide prevention.

Other agenda items include retirement of longtime educational technician Kaye Elliott, committee reports, and a minor change to last week’s adopted school calendar for 2004-05.
