Enraged, insulted, saddened and disgusted would best describe my feelings about the movie “The Passion of the Christ.” After a small amount of sleep, I thought it would be best to share my comments on such a despicable film.

Being raised in the Catholic faith, I have seen many versions of the Passion of Christ. Never, however, has such horror been portrayed on a movie screen. After enduring approximately 45 minutes of subtitles and inhumane atrocity, my wife and I had endured enough and walked out of a half-full theater. For so much publicity for a picture, on its first showing in Auburn, it was poorly attended. Hopefully, people will get the impression that this film is not worth seeing. There is enough sadness and despair in this world without encouraging such sadistic behavior portrayed in the film.

Seeing someone’s flesh being repeatedly torn and blood splattered in every direction is overdone in this presentation. After a few minutes we do get the picture! No way would anyone be capable of walking the cross to his crucifixion with these overdone beatings after being ripped to shreds.

Mel Gibson is only out to sensationalize the Passion, with disrespect, to enhance his bank account. He certainly is showing his lack of talent in directing this film. I definitely will be boycotting anything with his name. This has to be the most tasteless and disgusting adaptation of a religious episode in the life of our Lord.

Mel Gibson, shame on you!
