WILTON – Officials will meet in executive session Tuesday with members of the Wilton Development Corp. and the Greater Franklin Development Corp. to discuss an offer to the town from Phillips Van Heusen Corp. for property on the Weld Road. The session will take place at 6:30 p.m. The regular meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the town office.

At their last meeting, officials agreed to gather more information about options for the Bass Distribution Center currently owned by Phillips Van Heusen Corp. The corporation recently offered the land and building to the town.

ICT, an inbound call center, rents part of the building for about $10,000 a month, which represents about one fifth of the operating costs of the facility. Nielsen said a new owner would need to make up the difference. ICT employs about 200 people. Its contract expires Dec. 31, but officials expect it to remain in the building. A decision will have to be made about the building by Jan. 1, 2005. If the town decides not to become involved, the building will be offered to the state and then the private sector.

Town Manager Peter Nielsen will discuss a Beeline Cable franchise renewal notice and report on a faade grant notification.

In December selectmen gave their support for the town to send an application to the state for funds to improve the appearance of downtown buildings. Town Manager Peter Nielsen sent a three page narrative to the Maine Department of Economic Development. That department has a new faade grant, Nielsen said, and the town plans to apply for more than $150,000.

Nielsen also plans to announce that nomination papers will be available March 12 and are due back April 23. Two selectmen and one school director are to be elected.
