AUBURN – Mary Fraser of Gray has been named academic and transfer adviser in the Student Support Services program at Central Maine Community College. She brings six years of experience in working with college students to the position. She served as director of campus life at Mitchell College in Connecticut from 1997-1999 and at Newbury College in Massachusetts from 2000-2003, where she was an academic counselor, then director of advising and first-year programs.
A Deering High School (Portland) graduate, she holds a bachelor of arts degree in international studies from Bryant College in Smithfield, R.I., and a master of arts in history and anthropology from University College, University of London, England.
The Student Support Services program assists students who need extra help with course work or other academic issues. It also encourages students, especially those who are the first in their family to attend college, to consider continuing their education at a four-year institution after they graduate.
“I really enjoy working with students, and am looking forward to making a difference here at CM,” said Fraser.
“We are very pleased to have a person with Mary’s background and education on board to work with our students,” said Paula O’Brien, director of the Student Support Services program.
