RUMFORD – Selectmen will decide Thursday whether to extend the sewer line about 1,700 feet beyond the Franklin Annex road.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the conference room of the Municipal Building.

Town Manager Robert Welch said the town has been extending sewer lines for several years. A thousand-foot extension will include access to municipal sewer for a proposed mobile home park. Another resident has requested an extension of about 700 feet that would service other homes on the road.

Welch said costs for the extension would come from the sewerage account.

The board will also award the contract for re-roofing the downtown fire station. Costs for the project will likely come from the town’s insurance and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Other agenda items include a variety of victualers, hawkers and peddlers, liquor and amusement licenses for a new restaurant slated to open in late March known as the Penalty Box, Mr. and Mrs. Sausage, and Jack’s Place.

The board will also make a contribution so a Mountain Valley High School boy can attend Dirigo Boys State, act on a parade permit request for the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade sponsored by the Snowshoe Club, and set two hearings to consider changes to the town’s bylaws.

A closed session is scheduled to discuss police union negotiations following the public portion of the meeting.
