Other activity is also under way at the Mount Auburn Avenue retail area.

A 13-acre parcel previously owned by developer Lee Griswold was recently sold to businessman George Schott, who owns the former Wal-Mart store, also on Mount Auburn Avenue.

Schott said he is in negotiations with retailers right now for both locations.

He expects to divide the former Wal-Mart store into three or four smaller stores. He also expects to divide the new parcel into four “building envelopes” rather than try to develop one large lot. He hopes to have a mix of tenants, including a bank, restaurant and medium-sized store, in that location soon.

In addition to the new Lowe’s, other anchor retailers in that area include the Wal-Mart Supercenter, BJ’s, Auburn Mall and Home Depot.
