FREEPORT – The Maine Jazz Alliance will present a “Jazz Goes to School” program featuring the Trent Austin Quartet Tuesday, March 9.
The performance will be in the Freeport High School auditorium.
Students at the middle school will attend an assembly where Austin will perform with his quartet: Ryan Parker on piano, Mark Carlsen on bass and Les. Harris Jr. on drums.
Then at 7 p.m., the quartet will perform for the community at the Freeport High School Auditorium, 30 Holbrook St.
Austin has performed with such artists as Tony Bennett, Natalie Cole, Joe Williams, Wynton Marsalis, Clark Terry and Jack Jones, and currently plays lead trumpet with the Artie Shaw Orchestra.
He is on the faculty at the University of Southern Maine, teaches trumpet in Wakefield, Mass., and has a private studio in the Boston area.
Admission to the concert is $4 and will be collected at the door.
The money is used to fund additional “Jazz Goes to School” programs.
