AUBURN – Hunter Jensen and Sarah Parent, both of Lewiston, presented Greater Androscoggin Humane Society Shelter Manager Kathi Grenier the donations from their second birthday party on Feb. 11.

Hunter and Sarah, who have birthdays two days apart, held their party together. Rather than receiving birthday gifts, party guests were asked to bring items to donate to the shelter. Food, pet treats, laundry detergent and other cleaning supplies were just a few of the items donated.

The society provides a safe haven for approximately 3,600 sick, homeless and abused animals a year. The primary support for the shelter comes from fund-raising events and donations.

The shelter gives back through community services, including animal intake and adoption, animal health services, reuniting people with lost animals, humane education and working with individuals who are disadvantaged or developmentally disabled.

The shelter is located at 3312 Hotel Road. If interested in learning more about volunteering at the shelter or adopting an animal call 783-2311 or visit the Web at www.gahumane.org.
