LEWISTON – The YWCA of Central Maine will offer three Money Matters seminars, presented by Joseph D. Williams, RJFS financial adviser. The topics are “Money Basics,” “Making Sense of Investing” and “Asset Allocation.”

“Money Basics” will be offered from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 11. Participants will learn the basics of investing and fundamentals and the programs that allow them to get started.

“Making Sense of Investing” will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 7. Participants will learn about investment programs, how they work, tax benefits, dollar cost averaging, surrender charges, withdrawal penalties, fees, expenses and commissions.

“Asset Allocation” will include what asset allocation means and ensure that persons do not have too much overlap of investment styles in a portfolio. Learn the benefits of the different sectors of the market and how they can work together. The seminar will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 28.

The cost for each seminar is $1 for YWCA member and $10 for non-member. All require preregistration. The YWCA of Central Maine basic membership is children (up to 12) $25; youths (13 to 17) $35; adults (18 to 59) $50; senior citizens (60+) $40. Membership is for a year from the date of purchase and provides free membership swims and discounted program fees.
