DALLAS PLANTATION – Residents held a special town meeting on Friday, Feb. 27, to vote on several warrant articles.

Of the more than 200 registered voters in Dallas Plantation, 21 were on hand to vote.

In article one, Terrance Morgan was chosen to moderate the meeting and to present the remaining two articles.

Before the reading of articles two and three, Town Assessor Wess Connally read a statement.

“This meeting is the result of questions of residency and school tuition,” Connally said. “And because these questions involve highly sensitive confidential legal issues, we regret that we will not be able to invite any discussion on the specifics of tonight’s articles. As such, we simply ask that you read the warrant carefully and cast your vote, trusting that, as your elected officials, we are responsibly dealing with the matter with your best interests in mind.”

Article two asked if the plantation would transfer $25,000 from surplus to pay the legal expense account bills. Residents voted 17 to 4 in favor of article two.

Article three asked if the plantation would borrow and appropriate $25,000 for the legal expense account. Residents voted against article three by a 17-4 margin.
