1921 – 2004

MADISON, Conn. – Earle M. Chesley, Jr., 82, of 11 Willard Ave., Madison, Conn., husband of the late Mary P. (Fogler) Chesley, passed away on Tuesday, March 2, at the Madison House.

Born in Auburn, July 27, 1921, the son of the late Earle M. and Edith (Estes) Chesley Sr., he was a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corp., serving in World War II, where he was involved in the invasion of Iwo Jima.

He was a graduate of Northeastern University in Boston, Class of 1943, and received his master’s degree in 1961. He was employed at Echlin Mfg. in Branford, Conn. for 15 years.

He was a member of the First Church of Christ in Madison. He summered in Rockport. His family was his life and he will be sadly missed.

Survivors include one son, Earle M. “Chip” Chesley III of Contoocooka, N.H.; three daughters, Pamela C. Dennett of Madison, Conn., Meredith C. Aherne of Windham, N.H., and Carol T. Keszey of Underhill, Vt.; two sisters, Adele Fyfe of York and Dorothy Kerr of Auburn; and 10 grandchildren, Trafton, Tyler IV and Chisholm Dennett, all of Madison, Conn., Mary Payson and Elizabeth Chesley of New Hampshire, Colleen and Caitlin Aherne of New Hampshire and Kimberly, Jacob and Levi Keszey of Vermont.

He was predeceased by one granddaughter, Meghan Aherne.
