SEATTLE (AP) – Top-ranked Stanford lost for the first time this season, falling 75-62 to unranked Washington on Saturday.

Tre Simmons scored 16 points to help Washington end the Cardinal’s effort to complete the first 18-0 season in Pac-10 Conference history. On Thursday night, the Cardinal rallied to beat Washington State on a last-second shot.

Stanford (26-1, 17-1) shot only 39 percent, had 18 turnovers and was in foul trouble for most of the game that ended with Huskies’ fans storming the floor and dancing in jubilation.

The loss, left Saint Joseph’s (27-0) as the only undefeated team in the country. The Hawks are attempting to become the first team to enter the NCAA tournament unbeaten since UNLV in 1991.

Washington (17-10, 12-6) won for the 12th time in its last 13 conference games. It was only the second time ever that the Huskies have beaten a top-ranked team.

Nate Robinson added 13 points, and Brandon Roy and Will Conroy each scored 12 for the Huskies.

Stanford’s Josh Childress and Matt Lottich were in foul trouble much of the game, with Lottich fouling out with a minute left.

Childress had 15 points, and Lottich, the hero against Washington State, had just two on 1-of-11 shooting.

Stanford was 5-of-24 from 3-point range, and seemed rattled by a record crowd of 10,086 at Bank of America Arena.

Trailing by 10 at halftime, Stanford scored the first nine points of the second half to cut it to 35-34.

The Huskies missed their first eight shots and were scoreless in the first six minutes of the second until Nate Robinson’s layup gave them a 37-34 lead.

Childress picked up his fourth foul with 11:35 left, and Brandon Roy made both free throws for a 39-36 Washington lead.

Simmons hit three consecutive 3-pointers during a three-minute span to give Washington a 48-40 lead with 7:53 left. Lottich picked up his fourth foul during that span.

Chris Hernandez’s 3-pointer pulled the Cardinal to 48-43.

Brandon Roy made a basket and free throw, Bobby Jones had a put-back basket and Mike Jensen added a 3-pointer during an 8-3 run that gave Washington a 60-51 lead with 3:12 left.

Childress’ 3-pointer cut Washington’s lead to 60-54 with 2:20 left. But Stanford began to foul, and the Huskies made the shots to maintain their lead.

Childress picked up two fouls less than four minutes into the game and sat much of a half. The Cardinal had 13 turnovers in the first 20 minutes and trailed 35-25 at the break.

Stanford was held to just eight points over the final 10 minutes of the first half, and missed all seven of its 3-point attempts in the half.

No team has completed an unbeaten season since Indiana in 1976.

Washington is 2-26 against top-ranked teams, beating UCLA in 1979. Coach Lorenzo Romar was a guard on that Washington team.

Stanford’s 26-game winning streak was the longest in the Pac-10 since Oregon State won 26 straight in 1980-81. No team has won all 18 games since the league expanded its schedule in 1979.

The Huskies lost their first five Pac-10 games this season and were last in the league in mid-January. This is their first winning season since 1999.
