AUBURN – Cedric Thomas scored the game-high 18 points to lead Arkansas Baptist to a 76-53 win over Williamson to capture the championship of the 2004 USCAA Division II tournament Saturday.

Willie White contributed 13 points, while Shaun Williams tallied another four field goals and a pair of free throws for 10 points for the Buffaloes in the winning effort. Arkansas Baptist led 36-21 at the midpoint.

Anthony Smith tossed a game-leading seven field goals for 14 points for the Mechanics.

SMCC 79, EMCC 58

AUBURN – Matt Oulette scored 20 points to pace Southern Maine Community College to a 79-58 win over Eastern Maine College in the 2004 USCAA National Championships Division II tournament Saturday.

The Sea Wolves received fine offensive efforts from Jeremy Bennett and John Glidden, who posted 19 and 15 points respectively. Southern Maine was 10-of-12 from the free throw line, while Eastern Maine was limited to a pair of missed attempts.

Daryl Watson scored the game-high 23 points for the Golden Eagles.

NHTC 82, Christendom 63

AUBURN – Takeshi Kaneko led a balanced attack with 20 points to lead New Hampshire Tech to an 82-63 win over Christendom College in the 2004 USCAA National Championships Division II tournament Saturday.

James Thorpe scored 16 points for the Capitals, while Simon Keeling, Matt Green and Matt Spanos pitched in with eight points apiece. New Hampshire Tech led 49-27 at the half.

The Crusdaders stepped up the tempo in the second half with a 36-33 margin. Center Kevin Fox tallied the game-high 26 points for Christendom in the loss.
