YORK (AP) – Heat guns used by workers to remove exterior paint were cited by investigators as the cause of this week’s fire that destroyed a historic waterfront mansion.
No injuries were reported in the Wednesday afternoon blaze that officials said was accidental.
Officials estimated a loss of more than $3 million to the property owned by summer resident Milton Peterson of Virginia.
The state fire marshal’s office joined local officials and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms in the investigation.
