1923 – 2004

BRIDGTON – Edith L. Bennett, of Harrison, died Sunday, March 7, at the Bridgton Hospital.

Born in Lewiston, Jan. 21, 1923, she was the daughter of Raymond E. and Lillian Wallace Gould of Auburn. She graduated from Edward Little High School in 1940.

She married Charles D. Bennett, Jr. on Aug. 31, 1951. Shortly thereafter, they moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where they lived until 1984. Upon retirement they moved to Lewiston, living there until 2001 when they moved to “The Ponderosa” on Crystal Lake in Harrison. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Auburn until moving to Harrison where she joined the United Methodist Church in Bridgton.

She is survived by her husband, Charlie (Don); one daughter, Betty and her husband Everett and granddaughters, Nicole and Allison, all from Redmond, Wash.; one son, Charlie and his wife Carmen of Turner; grandson, Jonathan attending Santa Clara University in Calif.; siblings, Betty Mason and her husband Bert of Turner, Richard and his wife Elsie of Brooklin, and Ellen Mae Harms of Tiverton, R.I.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
