LEWISTON – Hugh Keene will be the guest speaker for the Saints Peter and Paul Society on Sunday, March 14, following the 8 a.m. breakfast meeting in the Dominican Conference Room.
As chairman of the Family Selection Committee for Androscoggin Habitat for Humanity, Keene’s topic will be “Habitat for Humanity: A Hand Up and Not a Handout.”
Keene graduated from Mechanic Falls High School, earned a bachelor of science degree from the University of Maine at Farmington and a master of education degree from the University of Maine in Orono and a certificate of advance study in physics from Wesleyan University.
Keene served in the U.S. Army Security Agency for two years, and prior to his retirement he was a teacher for 36 years in the Auburn School System where he taught physics at for 26 years and was head of the science department at Edward Little High School.
Keene serves on the Habitat for Humanity board of directors, SeniorsPlus and Community Credit Union. He was also director of religious education at St. Patrick’s Church for five years and serves as a reader and Eucharistic minister.
