PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – Maxime Ouelett stopped 25 shots and Boyd Gordon had two assists to lead the Portland Pirates to a 2-0 victory over the Providence Bruins Sunday in the American Hockey League.

The win snapped Portland’s 10-game winless streak, and five-game losing streak, and put the Pirates (23-22-12-7) above .500 for the season.

Tim Thomas stopped 22 of 24 shots for Providence (28-21-10-3). After a scoreless first period, Colin Forbes scored at 4:36 of the second by tipping in Gordon’s slap shot. Francois Methot scored on a power play at 10:29 of the third for the game’s only other goal.

The shutout was the Pirates’ 14th of the year, which set a team record.
