Girl Scout cookies

OXFORD HILLS – Over 21,000 boxes of Girl Scout cookies have arrived in the Oxford Hills area. Favorites such as shortbread, thin mints, caramel delights and low-fat lemon pastry crmes are available. There is also a new flavor this year, the pinata, an oatmeal cookie topped with strawberry jam. People interested in ordering cookies can call Kathy Keene at 743-2616 or Diana Phillips at 743-7014 for help finding their closest Girl Scouts.

Blood drive

PARIS – There will be an American Red Cross blood drive from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, at the Paris Fire Station on Western Avenue. Donors must be at least 17 years of age and in general good health. For more information, people can call 1-800-482-0743.

Auction at school

OXFORD – The Madison Avenue School will hold a silent auction from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 19, at the school. The auction will be accompanied by a bake sale, an ice cream social, student entertainment, a 50-50 raffle and door prizes. Auction items will include skis and trail passes from Carter’s Cross Country Ski Center, 100 gallons of oil from Dead River Co., a one-month membership to Personal Best Health Club, Oxford Plains Speedway 250 tickets and $75 toward a bike or gift from WalMart. Also available will be a two-hour beading party for four children, a swim party for four children at Thompson Lake and one hour of healing message. Pre-K club

OXFORD – The Oxford Pre-Kindergarten Club is inviting all children who are planning to attend kindergarten in the fall to attend the club with their parents. The club plans to meet from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursdays: March 18, April 15 and May 13, at the Oxford Elementary School.

Parents are encouraged to leave the child’s brothers and sisters at home so that they can work with their child without interruptions, according to a spokesman for the club. Parents will be given materials on activities as well as information on how to prepare a child for school.

People can call the school at 539-4456 if planning to attend the meeting. This will help the club with its planning.

Kindergarten

OTISFIELD – Kindergarten registration will be held for the Otisfield Community School from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. from Monday, March 15, through May 19 at the school for children who will be 5 years old by Oct. 15. Children do not need to come with the parent for registration. People should take the child’s official birth certificate and immunization record with them to the registration. Forms will be filled out and an appointment will be made for the child’s preschool screening. For more information, people can call 627-4208 or 627-4144.
