SALEM – Hill Country Music will perform at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 14, at the Community Building. The public is welcome to come hear their country and bluegrass music. The program is sponsored by the Salem Pine Tree Club.

Benefit dinner

NEW SHARON – The Square and Compass Club will sponsor a public dinner from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Sunday, March 14, at the New Sharon Methodist Church to benefit a new lodge hall. The menu includes roast pork, applesauce, mashed potatoes, peas, carrots, pies and beverages. It will be $6 for adults and $4 for children age 12 and under.

FARMINGTON – “A Night of Nutrition” with Dr. Jason Steinhouser will be offered at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, at HealthQuest, 383 Wilton Road.

For those confused about low or high carbs, protein or fat diets, he will explore the fundamental concepts of a complete diet and what really makes sense.

He will take a closer look at the current scientific facts surrounding protein, fat and carbohydrates.

FARMINGTON – A spring variety show and dance, Gold ‘n’ New, will be held at 7 p.m. on March 19 and 20 at the Farmington Elks Lodge. A dress rehearsal will be held Wednesday, March 17 at 7 p.m. A $10 donation is asked for admission to any of the shows.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. Steve Bull will serve as DJ and master of ceremonies for the program. Tickets may be purchased at Mickey’s Hallmark or by calling 779-0752 and 778-4726.

Medical terms

FARMINGTON – Franklin Memorial Hospital is now enrolling students for a medical terminology course offered this spring. The course begins March 25 and will run every Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. for 13 weeks.

Students will be able to identify terms for the human body, as well as learn about diagnostic tests, diagnoses and surgical procedures used by each medical specialty.

Class size is limited so early registration is suggested. The fee for the course and the textbook is $350. For more information or to enroll, people can call Kristen Grondin in the hospital’s Education Department at 779-2381.

Auction planned

NEW VINEYARD – Colby’s Angels, an American Cancer Society Relay for Life Team, is looking for donations for an auction to be held in April. For more information, people can call Collette Daggett at 652-2020 or 491-6222.

‘Disco-for-Life’

JAY – The second annual Disco-for-Life will be held from 8 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, April 3, at the Amvets Hall on Main Street. Disco-for-Life is a dance and raffle to benefit the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. People can dress in disco garb and enjoy four hours of nonstop disco music and dancing.
