LEWISTON – Jane (Lamontagne) Begin, 42, of 531 Williams Road, Sabattus, died Wednesday, March 10, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, after a short illness.
Born in Perthamboy, N.J., Sept. 2, 1961, the daughter of Adrien and Germaine (Jean) Lamontagne, she attended grammar school in New Jersey, and received her high school education at Edward Little High School, graduating in 1979. She attended the Sherwood Conservatory of Music of Chicago and also the Chicago Music School, graduating from both in 1983.
She taught music in Chicago at Ste. Priscilla’s Catholic School for five years. After having lived in Chicago for nine years, she came back to live in Maine, where she first began her music ministry at Holy Cross Church and also was instrumental in starting up the musical program for the Teens Mass at Holy Family Church. She continued her musical ministry for over 15 years at St. Joseph’s Church, until her illness.
She also taught at St. Dominic Regional High School and gave private lessons at her studio in her home on Foch Street. She also enjoyed being involved in the project of Pet Therapy with her dog, Coco in local hospitals and nursing homes.
Survivors include her husband, George Begin of Sabattus whom she married Oct. 13, 2002; her mother, Germaine Lamontagne of Auburn; two brothers, Ronald Lamontagne and his wife, Grace of Bowdoin and Donald Lamontagne and his wife, Kathy of Wall, N.J.; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one brother, Paul Lamontagne.
