he Harlem Globetrotters will bring their fast-paced energy and basketball skills to Lewiston Monday, March 29. They will take the court against the New York Nationals at 7 p.m. at the Colisee.

Tickets are on sale now. They start at $12 and are available through the Colisee’s box office, 783-2009.

During the North American leg of their current world tour, the Globetrotters will travel to 45 states, Canada and the District of Columbia, playing in more than 200 games in four months.

“This is our 78th season and we are enthusiastic about providing families with quality entertainment. It’s always great to see fans of all backgrounds come out for a Globetrotter game and bring their family and friends. The Globetrotters are the kind of special event that can be shared by everyone,” said Harlem Globetrotter owner and Chairman Mannie Jackson. “This year we’ve added several new elements to the game, but we’ve kept the traditional fun that is synonymous with and unique to the Harlem Globetrotters.”

Although the goal is bigger, better and more fun, the Globetrotters will continue their tradition of:

• Introducing several new and amazing ball-handling and comic routines during every game.

• Holding a 30-minute “meet and greet” session at the conclusion of the game; each child has an opportunity to meet a Globetrotter.

• Building bridges in each community where they play by continuing to visit schools, hospitals and youth-based organizations. In the last 10 years, the organization has raised and donated millions of dollars for local and national charities.

• Providing a fast-paced, high-energy night for fans.

The Globetrotters have played in 117 countries and before 120 million fans worldwide. In 2002, the organization was only the fifth team to be inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame; followed by an induction into the Black Sports and Entertainment Hall of Fame and the World Sports Humanitarian Hall of Fame.
