GARDINER – The “Alive! From Johnson Hall” concert series will present its host Martin Swinger and the North Star Bluegrass Band at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 12, in Johnson Hall, 280 Water St.

Ted DeMille heads this high-energy bluegrass band, which has won accolades across the state for its vocal, instrumental and songwriting talents. Lively, original songs and beautifully rendered traditional harmonies make the sweet, “high lonesome” sound of North Star a memorable evening.

Alive! from Johnson Hall is in its eighth season of presenting fine Maine musicians in a live show. The current series runs through April 23. Each of the eight concerts presents a different style of music from classical to country, from swing to bluegrass, from traditional American to traditional European.
