CANTON – On Friday, 157 Canton voters went to the polls and elected a new slate of town officials. Two new selectmen were voted in out of a field of five candidates. Donald Hutchins garnered 81 votes and Lisa Cummings received 66 votes to join the Canton Board of Selectmen for three-year terms.
Hutchins has a young family and is eager to get involved in the community. He is a supporter of the school merger and the Comprehensive Plan.
Cummings also has a child in school and thinks the merger will be great for the children of Canton. She has served on the Budget Committee.
Scott Verrill and Benjamin McCollister won the two seats on the School Board and Donald Adams and Marjorie Sudboy won seats on the Planning Board. Craig Gammon was re-elected as Road Commissioner and Norris Conant, David Strout and Katheryn Mikshanas all won seats on the Budget Committee.
The Annual Town meeting will be held at the Canton Town Office tomorrow, March 13 at 9 a.m.
