LEWISTON – Marshwood Center for Health Care and Rehabilitation celebrated Valentine’s Day with a couples’ luncheon.

Marshwood employees set up a special luncheon to honor those couples with many years of longevity. There were 11 couples attending. In every case, one of the pair resides at Marshwood and is visited every day by their spouse, who can no longer care for them at home, but still cherishes the relationship.

The luncheon was hosted by staff and administration and each couple had their picture taken. The photos are posted on a special board in the facility.

The pairs enjoy being seen as a couple even though they now have to live in separate places. Everyone was presented a red carnation as they left the luncheon.
