1916 – 2004
SKOWHEGAN – Bertha May White, 87, died Saturday morning, March 13, at Cedar Ridge Nursing Home.
She was born in Kingfield, March 24, 1916, the daughter of Leroy and Eva (Reed) Litchfield. She attended Salem schools, and married Cecil P. White Aug. 13, 1932, in Kingfield, he died after 51 years together.
She worked in mills in the Stratton, Phillips, and Avon areas. She loved to play bingo 2-3 days a week, enjoyed crafts, and made beautiful Christmas stockings.
Survivors include a daughter, Julia Hood and her husband Malcolm of Madison; 12 grandchildren, Cecil, Helen, Fritz, Joyce, Sue, Roger, Cecil, Jeff, Tim, Cindy, Greg, and Carla; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Ruth White of Kingfield, and Herta White of Radchiff, Ky.; niece, Zelda Clark of Rangeley; and special friend, Mavis Henderson of Phillips.
She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years; and her sons, Carl and Earnest White.
