TURNER – The top 2 seeds in the Leavitt Area Men’s Basketball League playoffs have advanced to the finals. The first game of the best-of-3 championship series will be waged Sunday at 6:30 p.m. at Leavitt Area High School.

No. 1 Ben Alpren Machine edged No. 3 Ruff Riders 84-83 in semifinal action Sunday. Shawn Spadea led the Machinists with 23 points. Josh Morin tallied 28 in a losing effort.

No. 2 Dubord Realty/Ranor Inc., defeated No. 4 Gemini Nutrition 101-81 in the other semifinal tilt. Brian Demshar paced the victors with 21 points. Scott Bessey added 19. TC Mathews (23) and Sherwin McKenzie (20) sparked Gemini.

Ruff Riders and Gemini will meet in Sunday’s consolation game at 5 p.m., with Alpren serving as refs. The winner of that contest will officiate the first game in the championship series between Alpren and Dubord/Ranor.
