RUMFORD – An inventory of a cache of high school memorabilia will likely begin soon by student groups at Mountain Valley High School.
Then, some of these trophies, banners, championship footballs and dozens of other items from the former Mexico High School, Stephens High School and Rumford High School will be put on display at various sites around the community.
The SAD 43 board on Monday approved a plan by high school Principal Bruce Lindberg to have the artifacts, found in the current high school’s basement, inventoried, catalogued and photographed, most likely by a student group such as the National Honor Society or the Student Council, Superintendent Jim Hodgkin said.
Some items will be displayed at the high school in a soon-to-be-purchased glass trophy case. Others will be loaned to area historical societies, businesses or other groups who agree to properly care for the items.
Hodgkin said Lindberg is working on that agreement.
