BATH – The Chocolate Church Youth Theatre is presenting Oliver! on March 26 through April 4.

The adventures of a lovable orphan in “Oliver!” are based on Charles Dickens’ classic “Oliver Twist.”

More than 100 young people turned out for the auditions for “Oliver!” and parts were found for everyone, according to the arts center.

The cast includes young people from area towns and from as far away as Vinalhaven. Rehearsals are now in progress and will culminate in seven weekend performances.

In the Chocolate Church Arts Center’s production, Dickens’ characters are brought to life.

Audiences will follow Oliver in his musical journey through the streets of Victorian London as he comes across criminals, street gangs, lovely ladies and many other interesting characters.

Oliver! will engage people with its pathos and drama, while delighting everyone with its outstanding musical numbers, according to the spokesman.

The songs include: “Food, Glorious Food,” “I’d Do Anything,” “Where is Love?,” “Consider Yourself,” and “As Long as He Needs Me.”

The Friday and Saturday shows will be at 7 p.m. Matinees at 2 p.m. are scheduled Saturday, March 27; Sunday, March 28; and Sunday, April 4. People can call the office for more information on a special performance for schools scheduled April 1.

Tickets are $10 for children in advance or $12 at the door and $14 for adults in advance or $16 at the door. Tickets can be purchased by calling the arts center at 442-8455.
