WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) – John Pohl had a pair of goals in the first period to lead the Worcester IceCats to a 4-0 victory over the Portland Pirates on Friday night.

Aaron MacKenzie and Mike Glumac had the other Worcester goals. Glumac added an assist and Jame Pollock had a pair of assists for the IceCats.

Curtis Sanford stopped 26 shots to post his fourth shutout of the season.

He has seven career shutouts for Worcester, the most in franchise history.

MacKenzie’s goal came at 7:20 of the first period. Pohl scored at 9:17 and 18:02, giving Worcester a 3-0 lead at the end of the first period.

Glumac finished the scoring at 8:02 of the second period, netting his 24th goal of the season.

Rastislav Stana made 23 saves in the Portland net.

The Pirates have been shut out 10 times this season.
