BUCKFIELD – On Saturday the $200,000 new town garage had an open house to let the townspeople see where some of their tax dollars went.
Approximately 40 people came to the ribbon-cutting ceremony while others drifted in to view the facility until 1 p.m. Town Manager Cindy Dunn recognized the different contractors who worked on the 50-by-60-foot building and 20-by-24-foot salt shed.
They were as follows: Foundation contractor was Tom Barker, plumbing contractor was Pete Angell from Pete the Plumber, heating contractor was Randy Murray from Murray Oil, steel building construction was Essex Co., building erection was Gus Rodrique from Mid State Steel, electrical contractor was Tina Riley from Moelco, and interior carpentry was Brad Barker from North Leeds Building Supply.
The garage has 16-by-16 overhead doors that allow trucks that are fully equipped to be maintained. Also the liquid calcium set up that pumps the liquid directly into the sand and salt truck tanks is a new feature for the town’s working crew. The floor has radiant heat.
The project was started in October 2003 and finished in March.
Refreshments were offered at the open house.
