1928 – 2004

SOUTH PARIS – Marion B. Dow, 75, of South Paris, died Friday, March 19, at her home.

She was born Marion Brown on April 19, 1928, in Norway, the daughter of Carle Brown and Rachel (Cutts) Brown. She grew up in Norway and was valedictorian of her class upon graduation from Norway High School in 1945. She later attended Burdett College in Boston, MA and was also valedictorian upon her graduation in 1947. She married Neil L. Dow on Aug. 19, 1949 and they had four children.

Marion was employed at Wilner Wood Products and the David A. Klain Agency. She later worked for Goodwin Insurance for many years, only recently retiring in Dec. of 2003. She greatly enjoyed working for Robert and Stuart Goodwin, and with her coworkers, all of whom were kind to her during her employment and recent illness. She was a dedicated member of the Stephens Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, serving as treasurer of the Thrift Shop for more than 30 years.

Marion enjoyed traveling and playing puzzles and games. She also enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild.

She is survived by her four children, Deborah Hammond and her partner, Bruce Harlow of Poland, Melinda Butler and her husband, Steve of Humble, Texas, Joanna Dow and her partner, Ron Raymond of Otisfield and David Dow and his wife, Cathy of Paris; five grandchildren, Sarah Benn, Katie Butler, Molly Dow, Laura Dow and Tracey Raymond and great-grandchild Lily Benn. She is also survived by her brother, Alvin Brown of York and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Carle Brown and sisters, Viola Rypka and Alice Howe.
