AUBURN – School Superintendent Barbara Eretzian has proposed a $31.2 million budget for 2004-05.
It’s an increase of $1.4 million, or nearly 5 percent, over this year.
Eretzian had given her budget proposal to the School Committee last Wednesday. But during the presentation, committee members realized that the budget summaries weren’t correct and totals didn’t add up. Officials said a computer glitch caused the problem.
They released a corrected proposal Monday. Changes were minor, adding about $8,000 to the bottom line.
In her proposal, Eretzian asked for $1.4 million more than this year’s $29.7 million budget.
Much of the increase was due to higher health insurance costs and contracted salary increases. The budget workbook showed few major cuts or new programs.
School Committee members are expected to review the corrected proposal Wednesday at a workshop. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at the Chamberlain Building.
The committee is scheduled to adopt the budget on April 2 and to present it to the City Council for approval on April 28.
