LEWISTON – Councilors will start a special budget presentation 15 minutes earlier to leave room for the Lewiston Maineiacs.
Councilors will get copies of the city’s proposed budget at a special meeting at 5:15 tonight in Lewiston City Hall.
The meeting was supposed to begin at 5:30 p.m., but City Clerk Kathy Montejo said that was cutting it too close for councilors going to tonight’s Maineiac’s playoff game versus the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. The Maineiacs are tied with the Huskies at one game apiece in the best of seven, first-round playoff series. Tuesday’s game begins at 7 p.m. at the Colisee.
“We just wanted to make sure everything balanced and fit for everyone,” Montejo said.
Councilors are scheduled to get copies of the budget and hear an hour-long presentation from City Administrator Jim Bennett. Last year, councilors restructured city departments and laid off 16 employees to make the $73.6 million budget.
The presentation will also be broadcast live on Great Falls TV, local Adelphia Channel 7.
