AUBURN – The first community forum on state budget cuts is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 23, at John F. Murphy Homes, at 800 Center St.

Members of the Legislature’s Developmental Disabilities Caucus are hosting forums to hear concerns about the proposed budget cuts and the pending merger of the Department of Human Services and the Department of Behavioral and Developmental Services.

Rep. Margaret Craven, D-Lewiston, is a member of the Health and Human Services Committee and helped arrange the forums. Kathryn Ainsworth of the Governor’s Office will attend, as well as Jack Nicholas, the governor’s nominee to head the new Department of Human Services.

Community forums are:

• Tuesday, March 23, 6 to 8 p.m., John F. Murphy Homes, 800 Center St., Auburn.

• Thursday, March 25, 6 to 8 p.m., Augusta City Council Chamber.

• Monday, March 29, 6 to 8 p.m., Woodfords Congregational Church, 202 Woodford Street, Portland.

• Wednesday, March 31, 6 to 8 p.m., Behavioral and Developmental Services office, Bangor. There will be a video hookup to the BDS Presque Isle office.

The Development Disabilities Caucus is a bipartisan group of legislators dedicated to advancing the issues and concerns of individuals with developmental disabilities.
