POLAND – With an informal dinner, a live auction and a silent auction with entertainment provided by the Poland Regional High School Knights of Steel, there will be something to please everyone at the Poland Regional High School’s third annual Project Graduation fund-raising event on Saturday April 3, at the high school.

Dinner will take place from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the school cafeteria along with a silent auction and entertainment by the Knight of Steel. Dinner tickets for adults are $6; under 12, $4. From 4:45 to 6:15 there will be numerous items to bid on in a silent auction.

At 6:30, auctioneer Jody McMorrow will host a live auction featuring a 16-by-20-inch oil painting, “Red Barn,” done on location by artist Susan Roux of Poland.

Roux’s style of painting, though representational from a distance, reveals prominent brushstrokes at a closer view. She is represented at Ebb Tide Gallery in Kennebunk, Blue Heron Gallery in Cape Cod, Furniture by Dovetail in Boston and Agora Gallery in Soho, New York. Roux paints mostly landscapes and seascapes, many of which include people. Her favorite medium is oil. She attended the Rhode Island School of Design and has been painting seriously for 15 years. Her work can also be found on her Web site, www. susanroux.com.

Other items include 100 gallons of heating oil, rounds of golf and gift certificates donated by parents, businesses and surrounding communities, including Minot, Mechanic Falls, Oxford, Raymond and Lewiston/Auburn.

The auction was first held four years ago as a fund-raiser for the Poland Regional High School Boosters Club. It has raised funds for Project Graduation for the last three.

Project Graduation is an alcohol/drug/tobacco-free event established to give graduating seniors a place to join for a safe and fun graduation celebration. The event will begin after the graduation ceremonies, with the seniors boarding a bus to take them to an undisclosed location.

The cost for the celebration is expected to total $16,000, or approximately $150 a student. Project Graduation is also accepting individual contributions from anyone wishing to help. Contact Kathy Attwood at 784-4527 and 783-2039 or Carol Plourde at 998-2468 or 782-6827.
