TURNER – Kenneth Roberts, a Democrat, announces his Clean Election candidacy for the new District 96 seat in the House of Representatives.
The district comprises Hebron, Minot and Turner.
Roberts, 70, of 26 Oakwood Drive, said the prime motivating factor in his pursuit of the seat is to “guarantee a voice in Augusta for the residents of the new district. Frequently, when new districts are created, individuals, organizations and local governments lose their contacts and channels for having their voices heard in the State House. This won’t happen to the residents of Hebron, Minot and Turner if I am their representative,” Roberts said.
The candidate is an adjunct instructor and tutor at Central Maine Community College in Auburn. He previously worked for 12 years as a service coordinator for the elderly in subsidized housing in eight Maine towns and cities. Prior to that he was with the Maine Municipal Association where he authored the civics resource/school test “Local Government in Maine.”
“Tax reform and relief, affordable health care, an affordable, quality education at all levels to adequately prepare our people for jobs in a constantly changing workplace, advocating for the elderly, protecting our environment and saving our farms are major concerns of mine,” Roberts said. “But always, my goal will be to guarantee a voice for the communities of District 96.”
