FARMINGTON – The United Methodist Men will offer an Italian Night Supper from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 26, at Trinity United Methodist Church on Route 2. The menu for the meal of all homemade food includes spaghetti and meatballs along with a second entree, salad, dessert and Italian bread. Charges for the meal are adults, $6; children, $3 and under 5, free.

Sewer payments due

JAY – The second half of the 2003-04 tax and sewer payments are due on April 1. Interest will begin accruing on April 2. Absentee ballots are now available at the Jay Town Office for the annual town warrant. Voting will be held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. April 20 at the Jay Community Building.

Madrigal and Handbell Choir

FARMINGTON – The Madrigal and Handbell Choir from Maranatha Baptist Bible College in Wisconsin will present a concert at 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 29, at the New Hope Baptist Church on Perham Street. The Madrigal Choir is a 49 voice choir that will present a stirring program of traditional Psalms, hymns and spiritual songs such as “The Lord is My Light and My Salvation,” “Rejoice in the Lord Always,” “Our Great Savior,” and “The Battle of Jericho.” The repertoire also includes five-octave handbell arrangements of “Holy, Holy, Holy,” and “Hallelujah, ‘Tis Done.” Preludes will feature pieces by the brass choir and the flute ensemble. Nomination papers available

MOUNT VERNON – Nomination papers are now available for the following positions and terms: road commissioner, 1 year; tax collector, 1 year; treasurer, 1 year; town clerk, 1 year; selectman, 3 years; school board representative, 3 years. The papers are due back on April 24. The town meeting will be held at 9 a.m. on June 12 at the Community Building. Town elections will be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. June 8 at the Community Building prior to the meeting.

Lenten service

FARMINGTON – The final Sunday evening Union Lenten Service for the Mercer, North Vienna and New Sharon United Methodist Churches and the New Sharon Congregational Church will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, March 28, at the Farmington Falls Union Baptist Church. This will be predominantly a musical evening with contributions from each of the participating churches. A time of fellowship and light refreshments will conclude the evening’s activities. All are invited to attend and participate.
