UNITY – The Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association will sponsor a statewide educational event, “Growing Your Own Organic Garden,” at 14 locations from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 7.

The workshops are open to the public and are designed to provide gardeners with skills and knowledge needed to make a transition from conventional to organic gardening.

The presenters are seasoned MOFGA farmers and gardeners from around Maine. Area workshops include: Augusta, Capital Area Tech Center, Russell Libby, instructor; Lisbon Falls, Cooperative Extension Office, Eric Sideman; Portland, Portland Public Market, Dana Gross; Scarborough, Public Library, Roger Doiron; Standish, Rippling Waters Farm, Richard Rudolph.

Preregistration is not required but is encouraged. For more information call the association office at 568-4142. A registration fee of $5 a person will be collected at the door to help cover the cost of hand-outs and a bibliography.
