1935-2004
FAYETTE – Bertran “Bert” L. Hunt, 68, of Fayette, died Saturday, Mar. 27, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Bert was the youngest of 10 children born to Walter and Edith (Plummer) Hunt on Nov. 8, 1935, in Wayne. He was educated in several country schools, receiving an 8th grade diploma from Livermore Falls.
When he was 15 years old, he worked for Lowell and Erma Bolds in Livermore until he enlisted into the military serving four years as a military police officer in the Air Force stationed in England.
On April 5, 1963, he married Maxine Schmidt, of Fayette. He lost her to cancer, Dec. 25, 1993.
Bert held various jobs which included Souther’s farm, delivering propane gas for Bailey’s, cutting wood and working 35 years for Lovewell Farms Inc. When he was younger he loved to swim, rollerskate and bowl. After retirement, he enjoyed visiting family and friends, taking rides, doing odd jobs, cooking, reading Louis L’Amour cowboy stories and teasing loved ones.
He is survived by: two daughters, Jessica Cossaboom and her husband, Nathan, of Fayette and Jennifer Cossaboom and her husband, David, of Livermore; six grandchildren, Amanda, Amber and Allison Cossaboom of Fayette, and Jordan, Joshua and Karesyn Cossaboom of Livermore; four siblings, Mary White of Livermore Falls, Richard Hunt of Colorado, Phyllis Mitchell of New Vineyard and Weston Hunt of Lewiston.
He was predeceased by his parents; and five siblings, Everett Hunt, Annie Stevens, Edith “Arline” Phillips, Erlan Hunt and William Hunt.
