1949-2004

FARMINGTON – John J. Tardif, 54, of Jay, died Friday, Mar. 26, at the Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.

He was born Nov. 10, 1949, in Farmington, a son of Lucien and Lillian (Vaillancourt) Tardif. He attended Jay schools graduating from Jay High School in 1968.

John enlisted in the U.S. Army upon graduating from high school and served in the 101st Airborne Division in Germany and Vietnam earning a Bronze Star.

He was a life member of the Frank L. Mitchell VFW Post and AMVETS Post in Jay and the Eagles Club in Rumford. He enjoyed playing cribbage, music, the Boston Red Sox, football, fishing and socializing with friends.

He is survived by: his two daughters, Christina Redman of Auburn and Jenna Nelson of Dixfield; his father Lucien of Jay; a brother Tom and his wife, Jean, of Livermore; a sister Brenda of Jay; three nieces, Karen Cutchin of Portland, Kelly Cutchin of Kentucky and Shannon Tardif of Livermore; a nephew Travis Tardif of Livermore; and a great nephew Benjamin Cutchin of Portland.

He was predeceased by his mother, Lillian in July of 2001.
