Police believe the BB shooter was involved in a vandalism spree.

AUBURN – A man struck by a BB while walking on Main Street Sunday night was recovering at home a day later. Police meanwhile, believe the person who fired the shot is likely responsible for a spree of vandalism in both Lewiston and Auburn.

“They hit businesses in both cities,” said Auburn police Detective Mitchell Sweetser.

Police said thousands of dollars in damage was caused Sunday night when windows at several businesses were struck by BBs. Investigators said a bank, restaurant and car dealership were among the businesses targeted by the vandals.

The man who was struck by a BB suffered a flesh wound when the pellet passed through his coat and ripped into the skin of his chest, police said.

Police said the victim, a local man in his early 50s, had been walking near the Big Apple on Main Street when he was struck.

Investigators were asking that anyone with information about that incident or about the vandalism spree call them at 784-7332.
